Is the world a peaceful place?
News reports are constantly telling us about wars, terrorism, disease,… Continue reading
We blog on the abortion issue fairly frequently as we believe this is a key barometer of how much society values the life of the weakest individuals and by implication how close a nation is aligned to God’s moral values. In our most recent blog we made the grim prediction that there would be increasing calls to end the lives of infants soon after birth. One of the reasons for this is that we cannot see what basis there is for denying the right of parents to kills their babies just after birth if it’s OK before birth – after all, the status of the baby as a living being… Continue reading
Very few Western church leaders understand the Middle East as well as Canon Andrew White. Also known as the ‘vicar of Baghdad’, Andrew White has intimate knowledge of the difficulties of living for Jesus Christ in a majority Muslim region. Not only this, he has a unique understanding of the complexities of the Middle East peace process and the animosity towards the Jews from surrounding nations and the world at large.
We have blogged before on the flagrant bias against Israel demonstrated by many international ‘peacekeeping’ bodies such as the UN which do little to conceal their obsession against the only democracy in the Middle East – they appear to… Continue reading
Whilst many view 2016 as a year to forget, there are signs that 2017 could be a year to remember! With Brexit and the US election results, 2016 was a year of significant change and 2017 has continued along this turbulent path since Trump’s inauguration and many unpredictable elections across the EU. Could there be more in store that has prophetic significance?!
When we look back at major historical events relating to Israel there appear to be some patterns in the dates…
- 1517 – Ottoman Empire invaded Israel
- 1917 – collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the Balfour Declaration
- 1947 – UN approval of resolution 181 calling for the rebirth… Continue reading
Last Sunday (New Years Day), Danny was asked to preach at St Andrew’s Baptist Church and he gave a sermon entitled ‘Prepared as a Bride’ where he looked into the need for being prepared, watchful and alert in these uncertain times.
2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10 was used as a base text and there were three themes that were expounded that are particularly relevant at the start of a New Year:
- The need for Perspective
- The need for Purity
- The need for Passion
Although this message was given specifically with St Andrew’s Baptist Church in mind, there will no doubt be an application for any church or individual.
Feel free to listen… Continue reading
It’s been a very eventful year from a Christian perspective – the world continues to groan and travail as the return of our Lord edges nearer. Events appear to be spiraling towards some kind of climax on a number of fronts with many starting to sense that the world is on the brink of something big – there appears to be an increasing degree of hysteria and uncertainty at the moment with many people feeling unsettled. Whilst this goes on, faithful Christian’s watch with dismay at a world which attempts to shut God out of every public square and silence the mention many Biblical morals. Meanwhile, much of the mainstream… Continue reading
The gospel accounts of Jesus’ death and resurrection are dismissed by many as fiction, but some details don’t make sense if this was the case. One such detail is when blood AND water came out of Jesus’ side after His side was pierced:
But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. (John 19:33-34)
If someone was making this up why would they add water to the description? It’s only with our deeper medical understanding do we know that this is feasible,… Continue reading
The beliefs of Christianity are exclusive and narrow, but this is no surprise as the truth is narrow and exclusive for everybody! Christians are often labeled intolerant for saying Jesus is the ONLY way and increasingly Christianity is called oppressive simply because their views are different to secular society. The ironic reality is that you only find out about truth by learning about it, usually from someone else who you may currently disagree with!
Real tolerance means you can disagree with someone but still give them the right to be wrong – this view is unfortunately quite rare in our current society. Social media can at times feel oppressive with… Continue reading
