Jesus Christ made many bold claims – one of which was:
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12, emphasis added)
This is not like a light we have at home for when it gets dark or even like the sun that lights up our day which are both physical lights. Jesus is referring to a spiritual light, He is the only source of spiritual truth available to us!
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide… Continue reading
The frenzied response from some Secularists when anyone dares mention the Christian faith in a positive light in the public arena is bewildering. During the Easter period, British Prime Minister David Cameron described the UK as a “Christian” nation and this has sparked an outcry from British Humanist Association (BHA) who arranged a petition signed by many well-known atheists to object.
Seeing as the BHA sees our Christian heritage as a problem, PJ Saunders has written a blog asking what heritage the secular movement has offered the citizens of the UK? Christians in the UK have often felt compelled to sacrificially helps others by setting up an array of social… Continue reading
We came across a YouTube clip (shown below) of British well-known personality Stephen Fry belittling belief in life after death. We respect him as an intelligent and funny guy but we were quite surprised by the rather baffling poor logic and mis-representation of the Christian faith that he displays in his reasoning.
Stephen Fry says that those who believe in an “after-life” do not accept death and that they are afraid of it. Christians are not afraid of death and fully accept it – in a sense, they look forward to death as pathway to something so much better. Why does Stephen Fry think that those who believe in an… Continue reading
If you were to explore many of the traditions of Easter, you would have trouble linking them to the death and resurrection of Christ – for example, what does an Easter egg have to do the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Where does the word “Easter” even come from? In fact, Easter originally had nothing to do with the death and resurrection of Christ and was a pagan festival that was hijacked by the early church and “Christianized”. The important question that remains is whether or not Christians should observe such a festival today? The article addresses this in a well balanced way – Should Christians celebrate Easter?
Pastor Jeff points… Continue reading
The feast of Firstfruits this year is celebrated tomorrow on 17th April, this should be the most important day in the Christian calendar. God has instituted a feast day to commemorate the resurrection of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – Firstfruits!
The feast of firstfruits occurs very soon after Passover feast (which symbolizes the crucifixion of Christ) and is described in Leviticus 23:9-14. It is very important to remember that the account of Jesus Christ does not end with His sacrifice on our behalf. On the day after the first “weekly” Sabbath after the Passover, the Israelites were instructed to take part in the offering of “firstfruits”. The Israelites… Continue reading
This year Passover starts in the evening of 14th April. It marks one of the most important dates in the Jewish calender and this should also be the case for the Christian. The way in which this Jewish feast is observed provides a solemn reminder of the circumstances preceding and including the crucifixion of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. The sacrifice of the Passover lamb in the OT is a virtual “dress rehearsal” for Jesus Christ in many striking details.
Jesus Christ precisely fulfilled every stipulation of the Passover lamb and was sacrificed on our behalf to deliver us from the penalty of sin. Read more of the intimate link between… Continue reading
Hollywood are not the only ones to release a Noah film this spring. Predictably, Hollywood’s version deviated significantly from the Biblical account but there was another Noah film that gave a faithful representation. Noah | And the Last Days is a short and challenging movie.
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be (Matthew 24:37)
Scripture gives clear signs to help us identify the last days before Jesus’ return. Before the flood of Noah people were living a carefree lifestyle, not giving any concern for Godly matters. Is this similar to what we see increasing around us today?… Continue reading
