The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. (Psalm 19:1-2)
When contemplating the existence and reality of life in our enormous universe it appears to be a miracle! Despite our desperate search to find life on another planet, we have to accept this planet is a perfectly ‘fine-tuned’ for human life. Any tiny change to one of the constant’s in our surroundings would result in life becoming impossible – surely, a greater being holding our universe together?
As Christians we acknowledge and marvel at our God’s creation and His sustaining power. Atheists often accuse… Continue reading
Two authors have recently submitted an entry to an atheist publishing contest by coming up with their own version of the ten commandments. The Christian Post listed these in their blog – Atheists Publish Secular ’10 Commandments’ list in Book Following Global Contest.
Surprisingly, there are many similarities with their commandments and the commandments given to Moses by God – they simply remove God from the equation. What follows is a list of these commandments with a brief light-hearted, but honest response from us:

To the non-Christian is it very difficult to believe there is a creator that loves us with so many things going so wrong for so many people.
In the UK, there are many churches that would describe themselves at Calvinist – in other words, they claim to be in agreement with the theological teaching of reformer John Calvin. The term, “Calvinist” has always seemed a rather strange way for a Christian to identify themselves in our opinion – why would a church or an individual align themselves with any individual other than Jesus Christ? Like many other forms of modern Bible interpretation, its weakness is that it interprets the Bible from a western humanistic worldview – hence it is heavily influenced by a Greek thinking theologian/philosopher like Augustine and misses the Hebrew/Jewish context the text was originally… Continue reading
This is a philosophical question that may produce a surprising answer. Christian’s often describe God as having an attribute of “omnipotence” which basically means to be all powerful. For our perspective and for our purposes, God is indeed all-powerful, but there are limits! So, can God do absolutely anything? The answer to this question has to be, “no”! At first glance, this may cause us to get nervous but let us give you an example – how would you answer the question, “Can God lie”? God is unable to lie because if He were to lie, this would compromise His moral nature. Can God make a square circle? Obviously not… Continue reading
