This week saw the passing of the 90 year old King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia but the strangest part of this news has been the reaction of the British Establishment and particularly Westminster Abbey. As reported in Ed West’s blog for The Spectator, Why is Westminster Abbey honouring the king of a country where Christianity is banned? the Abbey lowered its flag to half-mast in honour of the Saudi King!
Now it is true the King Abdullah has made some efforts to soften his kingdom’s abhorrent attitudes to human rights and dignity (such as considering the possibility of allowing women to drive!) but surely this is a bizarre response from… Continue reading
Steve Maltz is a UK author of many books. The purpose of this blog is to take a closer look into – How the Church Lost the Truth. The title should immediately grab our attention as it is deliberately provocative – what do you mean the Church has lost the truth?! But as we as take a closer look this will be explained.
This is not a chapter by chapter review – we simply want to cover the main points the author raises.
The book starts looking at what he calls, “the Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. God gives His clear instructions to His chosen people but… Continue reading
The seven letters to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3 were personally dictated to the apostle John by the Lord Jesus. The letter to Laodicea is particularly relevant for the church in the ‘end times’ and we have to ask how is applies to Christendom in the UK today.
When was the last time you heard a sermon on this letter in your church? These seven letters are the only place in the Bible where Jesus Christ personally speaks directly to the church and yet most churches bypass them completely! No doubt this is because of the nature of its alarming message – this uncompromising letter makes for a… Continue reading
One of the big new stories of 2014 was the rapid rise of Islamic group ISIS in the Middle East – the speed of their growth has surprised many and their extreme brutality has even shocked other extreme Islamic groups. There was little respite last year as our news media revealed a steady stream of barbaric activity carried out by these militants. Although there has been military responses by various countries, the Islamic State continues to grow as they set their sights further afield. They want to establish an Islamic caliphate across the Middle East and ultimately take control of the whole world’s Muslim population by whatever means necessary. So… Continue reading
As we enter a new year, we can begin with renewed hopes and good intentions as we start afresh for another year. Many of our resolutions will naturally fade after a couple of months (if they even last that long!) but some we are able to sustain and keep going as long as our will-power allows. However, there is one sell-out gift this Christmas we pray dies out very quickly – the Ouija board!
Following on from a Hollywood film it seems these boards have been a very popular gift – Wicked ‘Supernatural’ Gift Among 2014’s Christmas Sell-Out Items. Unfortunately, these hideous tools are one of many methods used… Continue reading
