We are living in very testing times, the world is rapidly changing as our post-Christian society gains traction. Instead of churches separating themselves from changes around us that compromise scripture they are choosing the opposite to be seen as modern and appealing. The stakes are massive here as relationships with God walk a tightrope for both churches and individuals. There is a serious need for each person to look themselves and their personal relationship with God to assess if changes need to be made.
The health of a church is largely down to the leader and the team they have around them. Ultimately, church leaders are called to shepherd the flock and protect them from spiritual deception. They have a great responsibility and should be aware that God will hold them more accountable than others.
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. (James 3:1)
However, this does not excuse each person from their own study and discernment. We have to be on constant guard and should regularly consider whether our current church (or home group) is still the right one. Unfortunately, this is more now a necessity than a “good thing” to do because of the current climate and how ingrained the deception is in our churches.
Being a Christian is not a passive role, we need to be actively seeking God to understand His will for us in these last days. We have to decide if we are being fed with good teaching, but it’s only by studying ourselves that we can know. Reading the Bible regularly is an essential part of this, only then can we discern if areas of our lives need to change.
True believers are going to have tough choices to make! The Bible is full of examples of people who drastically change their lives because of the truth. The truth is what we should be striving for, in many ways we should stand out from the current world by the way we live. One of these tough choices could be to leave the church that we worship in. The majority of churches in the UK have moved away from biblical teaching with more churches accommodating worldly things than scriptural commands. Do you want to be a part of a church like this?
Are you being entertained or fed? Are your ears being tickled or are they hearing sound doctrine? It’s the lack good teaching in the last days that scriptures cry out to us to be wary of.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Being part of a Laodicean church is a dangerous place to be and the sad part of this is that many people cannot tell or don’t care!
What is God showing you? You will know if God has been burning your heart and opening your understanding to the hypocrisy and compromise we see in our churches. Is the worship genuine praise or can you sit back with a coffee and doughnut and just watch? Is the Lord’s supper a time of reverence or a ritual with little importance? Is the gospel message clearly explained regularly? Are you witnessings strange manifestations in the congregation that leaves you feeling puzzled? God may have been nudging you for some time, showing you that something isn’t quite right. There will always be clear signs in a compromised church that things are not right, so it then comes down to what we do.
By and large, the mainstream churches will be judged by God. God will not bless churches that do not keep His word, this puts us at a crossroads! God is searching churches to see if there is any value left, is there any faith left? The faith of each person is being tested as God builds His remnant in these last days. He so dearly wants people to come out of the harlot church and join the remnant but there’s a big problem, many people will stay in these churches because it doesn’t bother them! The question is, does it bother you? God will give signs to those who are genuinely looking for the truth, He will show the correct path to help make those hard decisions. The strong emotional ties with close friends make decisions hard but we need to look beyond at the bigger picture, God’s picture! Are we allowing God in to show us the way? It’s His truth should rule our decisions, no other!
There are many questions here because we should be under constant guard, having our eyes open on our walk with God. We need to ensure we are getting fed correctly from God’s word and in fellowship with the right people, not out of convenience. God wants us to warn our family and friends who are part of these churches to come out!
It’s time we look at ourselves. Is God leading you away from a broken church? Does God want you to speak to friends who are part of these churches? Seek God’s wisdom through prayer. Follow God’s leading and don’t turn back! Not everyone around us will listen to the warning but we don’t have to make that mistake.
“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. … Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. (Revelation 3:14-16, 20-21)
